La Alcaldía de La Paz defiende la instalación del letrero con el nombre de la ciudad, argumentando que no se trata solo de letras, sino de un proyecto integral que incluye áreas verdes y miradores turísticos.
Las autoridades justifican la inversión de más de dos millones de bolivianos en el proyecto, pese a las críticas que sugieren que esos recursos debieron destinarse a obras de prevención prioritarias para el municipio.
Sin embargo, la Presidenta del Concejo Municipal, Lourdes Chambilla, anunció que solicitará informes al ejecutivo, ya que el proyecto no fue registrado en el SICOES, el Sistema de Contratación Estatal.
Calificó el gasto de insulso, considerando que existen otras prioridades urgentes en la ciudad.
